Covering letter to Mid Kent Planning

Highsted Park

Teynham Parish Council continues to object to the proposed Highsted Park North and South developments (21/503906/EIOUT and 21/503914/EIOUT), individually or as combined applications. This is a copy of the covering letter that we will sent to Mid Kent planning team.

Dear Planning Team

Re: Objection to Highsted Park Planning Applications (21/503906/EIOUT and 21/503914/EIOUT)

Teynham Parish Council continues to strongly object to the proposed Highsted Park North and South developments referenced, individually or as combined applications.

The northern application proposals ('Teynham West') do not demonstrate integration with our existing community and would approximately double the size of the rural Parish of Teynham, and exacerbate many of our current concerns (see below).

The area around Teynham has already seen significant expansion of development to which the addition of a further 1250 houses would be unsustainable.

Working with Tonge, Lynsted with Kingsdown, and Doddington Parish Councils and professional consultants, Teynham PC has produced two separate reports outlining objections to the planning applications as they currently stand.

The planning responses/reports can be viewed here

The first report covers general planning matters; the second document focuses on transport impact.

Our principal concerns are as follows:

General Planning Concerns

  • Non-Compliance with Local Plan Policies
  • Loss of High-Quality Agricultural Land and Food Security
  • Environmental and Ecological Impact
  • Community Wellbeing
  • Water supply and waste water infrastructure

Transport and Highways Concerns

  • Induced Traffic and Congestion
  • Air Quality
  • Sustainable Transport
  • Infrastructure Adequacy

Given these substantial concerns and associated reports, we urge the Mid Kent Planning Team to refuse planning permission for these applications.

Yours sincerely,

Parish Clerk
