Ref: 23/505541/REM Consultation Extension Request
I am writing to formally request an extension to the consultation period for planning application 23/505541/REM (including development of 300 dwellings in Teynham). We anticipate the application will be made available on the Mid Kent planning portal in the coming days.
On behalf of the local community, we are seeking an additional 21 days for members of the public and Teynham Parish Council to review and provide feedback. A total of 42 days.
Our concerns regarding the standard consultation period are as follows:
- Many individuals, including our subject experts, are still on Christmas break, impacting their ability to engage effectively.
- The proposed development is of significant scale and complexity, warranting thorough consideration.
- The volume of documents accompanying the application necessitates ample time for comprehensive review.
- Technical information within the application requires detailed examination by subject experts.
- Given the enduring impact of the proposed development on the community, a thorough review is essential.
- The development's scope will directly affect hundreds of individuals and a broad segment of the local community.
Moreover, we strongly advocate for a single communication encompassing the entire consultation period. Our concern is that a standard consultation period followed by an extension may result in confusion and potential distress among the affected parties.
