Congratulations to Lloyd Bowen, who has been awarded the Freedom of the Parish in recognition of more than 15 years of dedicated service to Teynham. The award was presented by Paul Townson, Chairman of Teynham Parish Council, during a fundraising event at the Community Hall on Saturday 19 July 2025. The presentation came as a complete surprise to Lloyd.
Tonight, it gives me great pleasure to present you with the Freedom of the Parish award.
Lloyd has served this Parish for over 15 years – as both a Parish Councillor and a Borough Councillor. In all that time, he’s shown that real public service isn’t about party politics – it’s about people.
He’s always put the needs of this Parish first. Practical, straightforward, and focused on the outcome. Just getting things done.
He’s a regular at our Parish Council meetings – not just as a visitor, but reporting back on Borough matters and helping bridge the gap between the two councils.
A good example of his ‘hands-on’ approach: when no one else would step forward, Lloyd agreed to chair the Village Hall Management Committee. Despite Borough Council duties and a young family at home, he simply got on with it.
He still serves on the Village Hall committee – raising funds, keeping events going, and running the ever-popular Wine and Wisdom quizzes as Quiz Master.
You’ll also spot him at many other parish events – helping out, spreading the word, or just being there to show support. He’s part of the life of this community.
Online, he set up and ran the inter-parish Facebook pages, keeping residents informed – especially when it mattered most.
Lloyd is known across the Parish as someone who gets things done. He’s approachable, honest, and dependable – and has earned people’s trust through quiet persistence.
So tonight, we say thank you. On behalf of the Parish, I’m proud to award Lloyd Bowen the Freedom of the Parish – a small token of our deep appreciation for everything you’ve done, and still do, for our community.
Congratulations, Lloyd.
Paul Townson,
Chairman, Teynham Parish Council.
